HOME/ BOARDING HOUSE STRUCTURE

We groomed Principled Women of Faith and Integrity.

At Marywood Girls College, we take a holistic approach to the care of our students in order to ensure that their personal, social, emotional and intellectual needs are meet and also to enable each student to participate fully and gain maximum benefit from everything the school has to offer. MGC is a school that does not only provide a structure to help prepare students for college in academic excellence, but also a college that provides a well sounded experience with various opportunities to be involved in academic programs and extracurricular activities which is filled with opportunities to learn, grow, bond.

The students, who are from different and diverse background live in Louise Humann building and they are divided to three houses, each has housemothers who are nearby and available to give advice, counsel, help students with anything they need and celebrate success.

The 3 houses in Marywood Girls College are St Agnes House, St Catherine House and St Maria Goretti House, their feast days are January 21st (St Agnes), April 29th (St Catherine) and July 6th (St Maria Gorretti). On each house feast day, a mini event is organized by the house members to celebrate themselves and this is what all students look forward to as there is a lot of preparation involved.

The housemothers assisted by house prefects and other house teachers organize each house by attending to the students’ needs and well-being. Placing the students in different houses is a means of encouraging spirit of cooperation among students by organizing and encouraging healthy competition between the houses.

Siblings are not placed in the same house so as to enhance independence amongst them. The house system is structure in a unique way by providing students the general ability with an opportunity to make contributions to school life to help them develop their extra-curricular talents, as well as to develop friendships growing into good, responsible and confident members of society who are independent, adaptable and resilient.

In MGC, students help, support and push each other, they learn how to be independent and responsible. Friendship at MGC is well cherished as this is one of our values to live as sisters and no discrimination. They spend every hour, everyday together, sharing, talking, arguing and behaving like sisters and eventually, classmates becomes a part of their family like siblings. It is said that one year of friendship at MGC is equal to 7 years in other schools. Since MGC life is very similar to university and college life and this allows the students to experience what they will go through in the future.
