Curriculum
The curriculum is centered on the Nigerian requirement of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) and also an International Curriculum: International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
In the first year of the Senior Secondary School (SS1) all the students are expected to offer 12 subjects. The following are the subjects offered.

ACADEMIC STRUCTURE
Students in each year are divided into 3 arms of classes, namely; Science Class, Humanities Class and Business Class for the Senior School Section. A class teacher is attached to each class and remains there for at least one academic session. The class teacher has opportunity to formally meet with the students on a daily basis and during class meeting days which is scheduled forth nightly.
ACADEMIC PROBATION
Any form of unseriousness or laziness on the part of the students is not permitted at all. Therefore, students could be asked to stay back in school to observe Stay Back Order (SBO), if such a student is found wanting or not doing very well academically or morally.

EXTERNAL EXAMINATION
Senior School Students are thoroughly prepared for WAEC, NECO and IGCSE examinations and they are exposed to the syllabus of the examination bodies.

In MGC we offer our students the best educational opportunities both national and international examination, we offer all students in the Senior Secondary School the opportunity to prepare and enter for three examinations: WAEC, NECO and IGCSE.
– IGCSE…. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE FOR SECONDARY EDUCATION
International General Certificate for Secondary Education; is the world’s most popular international qualification. They are the gate way to higher education or professional studies. Cambridge IGCSE encourages learner centered and enquiry-based approaches to learning. It develops learners’ skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving, giving learners excellent preparation for the next stage in their education.
JAMB EXAMINATION
All Students in SS3 are registered for the JAMB-Joint Admissions and Matriculation Boards Examination. This is a Nigeria’s unified examination used for acceptance into tertiary level institutions.
SAT AND IELTS
To gain admission into overseas universities is very competitive, at Marywood Girls College we counsel our students and proffer help to prepare them to obtain additional internationally recognized certifications.
