PRESS CLUB
The Press Club is a student body engaged in the dissemination of information in Marywood Girls College. Press club is all about information gathering, evaluating and distributing facts of current interest, creating future journalists, newscasters, editors and also inculcating into the student’s boldness and ability to overcome stage fright. Popularly called MGC Press makes use of reporters who research and write stories for print and electronic distribution often with the guidance of editors or producers.
Membership is open to Junior and Senior students. These students act as correspondents. They gather, write, edit, and broadcast weekly (during morning assemblies) under the continuous and supervision from the club advisors, who does the final editing before the news is cast, or any material is made public and available to the readers. Such news, in most cases consists of events that have happened in the school or outside the school premises or those still on the pipeline. The MGC Press Club also act as the voice of the students.
The other activities of the MGC Press club include: Photographic training: MGC Press teach the students the processes of handling the camera by using photographs to buttress their story:
- Releasing news on the latest news in the school, the nation and the world at large
- It makes use of reporters who research and write stories.
- Giving information on upcoming events and briefing.
- Weekly publications on the press board in the school premises.
- Covering of school events.
- Newscasting.
- Educating students on how to interview people.
- Debates.
- Quiz and Current Affairs
- Periodic publications on press boards
- Organize talk shows to expose the students to the art of making public speech.
